WELCOME TO THE SIGMA SERVER OF THE CESR !

SIGMA space telescope is devoted entirely to the high energy astronomy. Scientific objectives of the mission are :

Imaging of the regions of the sky in the energy range 35 keV to 1.3 MeV.

Temporal and spectral analysis of localised gamma-ray sources in the same energy range.

Temporal and spectral analysis of gamma-ray bursts in the energy range 200 keV to 15 MeV.

The SIGMA telescope has been constructed by two French laboratories :

The Centre d'Etude Spatiale des Rayonnements (CESR-CNRS/UPS) in Toulouse,

The Service d'Astrophysique of the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (SAp/DAPNIA/DSM/CEA) in Saclay,

both under contract to the French Space Agency (CNES).
